2018 New Year's Travel Resolutions

With 2018 nearly here, the list of new year's resolutions is getting longer by the minute. Our Team at Global Travel Plus discussed what they were looking for the most for 2018 and the answer was unanemously "Travel" so we decided to share with you our list of New Year's Travel Resolutions

Travel More – Traveling isn’t just fun and exciting, it is also proven to help our overall health and boost creativity and happiness. According to a study from the U.S. Travel Association and the Global Commission on Aging, people who take a personal trip at least once or twice a year show a lower risk of heart disease than those who travel only every few years. Traveling also enhances our creativity as new experiences requires us to engage with different culture and adapt to various situations. Another study from Cornell University shows that not only do we tend to be happy when we are traveling, we also experience an increase in happiness from just planning a trip. With all these proven advantages, there’s no reason not to travel in 2018 whether we take a quick road trip or travel abroad.

Learn a New Skill – Let’s pledge to learn something new when we travel, whether it is a macaroon cooking class in Paris, a photography class in Shanghai, a surf introduction in Hawaii or a scuba diving session in Cancun. When planning a trip, check out Airbnb’s Experience offers for your destination. More and more offers get added onto the site every day and it is a great start to finding fun things to do and try with a local guide.

Be Environmentally Conscious – Our planet offers us so many breathtaking places to see and so many fun things to experience. Let’s all become more responsible travelers in 2018 to help preserve all these beautiful destinations for years to come. For tips on how to implement simple eco-friendly habits into your travel routine, read our article on “Eco-Responsible Habits When Traveling”.

Conquer a Fear – The beauty of travel also lies in the fact that it pushes our limits and requires us to step out of our comfort zone. Afraid of being on your own? Try taking a short solo weekend getaway, you’ll see these are fun and relaxing! Afraid of water? Take a long walk down the beach with your legs in the water. Afraid of heights? Walk up the Eiffel Tower, take a deep breath and enjoy the view!

Global Travel Plus will be there to help should you experience an emergency while traveling 100 miles or more from home or in another country.
