2019 Travel Resolution

Today is the day for us to reflect on the year that has passed and to make plans and promises to ourselves and our loved ones for the year to come. Our team here at Global Travel Plus is evidently very into traveling and planning adventures, so we asked around for everyone’s travel resolutions. Here are the resolutions that kept being brought up. We wish all our travelers a great and travel-filled New Year!

Visit a New Place

In 2019, we pledge we will visit a place we’ve never been before. It does not have to be far away, think of all those parks and towns you’ve never seen in your own state. Give them a shot and you may find some real gems just around you!

Following the same idea, challenge yourself to do something new while you travel. Have you ever been on a hot-balloon ride or a horse ride? What about signing up for a cooking class, so you learn how to make a local, traditional dish from the area you are visiting (think Macaroons in Paris, Risotto in Italy, Dumplings in China, Sushi in Japan!)?

Travel Solo

While you may feel this resolution isn’t for you, we assure you that traveling solo will make you feel all sorts of feels. From feeling empowered to taking some time to reflect on yourself, there are many advantages to disconnecting from your social life and spending some time by yourself.

So, in 2019, pledge to treat yourself to a nice solo trip – you deserve it! It does not have to be a long and complex trip, it can be a road trip to the beach or the mountains for a day or two. Trust us, you’ll feel refreshed and ready to take on the world after you do!

Take a Spontaneous Trip

No plans one weekend? What about taking the family on the road and drive across state for the weekend? Or better yet, what about checking those last-minute flight deals for a romantic getaway with your significant other? In 2019, we promise to be more spontaneous and live a life full of little adventures!

Travel Sustainably

There is no doubt that each of us needs to care a little more about our planet. Let’s make ourselves accountable for our actions and decisions at home, and away. Taking little steps such as investing in reusable Ziplock bags, straws and drinkware will go a long way for the environment and the wildlife. Avoiding plastic packaging and making sure to use common recycling practiced will also help a great deal. In places where water is sparse, reuse your towels and try not to over-spend your time in the shower.

Keep Souvenirs

Wherever and however far away you travel this year, make sure you bring a little souvenir home. At the end of the year, you can look back and remembers all the good moments you experienced during the year. Souvenirs can be a little trinket or a postcard bought at a souvenir shop or a shell, rock or sand saved previously in a tiny Ziplock bag. Make sure you tag those souvenirs and write a note about where you were and how you felt when you gathered them.

Travel Prepared

Most importantly, whatever 2019 brings you, always make sure you travel prepared. For both international and domestic travels, make sure you call your health insurance to inquire about out-of-state and international health coverage. If traveling internationally, make sure you do your research about your destination and take necessary health and safety precautions.

Finally, don’t leave without your Global Travel Plus program.
