Situation:  An International Student Director contacted Global Travel Plus to open a case for a foreign student from the United Kingdom who had been involved in a serious car accident near San Francisco. The student suffered severe injuries including a traumatic brain injury, multiple rib and pelvic fractures and liver lacerations. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit where he received immediate surgery.
Assistance: The Global Travel Plus medical coordinator began monitoring his care and contacted the local treating team to discuss the patient’s medical condition and treatment plan. It was agreed that the patient would remain at the hospital in San Francisco until it was safe for him to travel back to the U.K. After four weeks in the hospital, the student was finally cleared for travel. Global Travel Plus arranged for his medical repatriation on a business class flight with a medical escort to accompany him during the entire journey home. The coordinator also arranged for door-to-door car service and wheelchair assistance.
Member Testimonial: "I couldn't have asked for more from Global Travel Plus and everyone I dealt with. I was constantly updated so I didn't feel on my own or out of the loop. At a traumatic time, Global Travel Plus made me feel there was hope and that you were supporting us all the way. I even got a call once my son arrived back to see how he was.”   - Member's Mother
