Members George* and his wife, Emily* were finally able to take a month off from work to visit Emily’s family in Manila, Philippines. Unfortunately, a few days into the trip, George was in an accident during an ATV excursion and broke his hip. He was immediately taken to the local hospital and had to get an emergency hip replacement surgery.

Emily knew she had to contact her travel assistance program, Global Travel Plus. The coordinator immediately asked for the hospital details and explained the services to the couple. The coordinator reached out to the surgeon to review George’s medical report, the course of treatment and discharge plans. The doctor informed that George needed two or three weeks of convalescence prior to returning to the U.S. Global Travel Plus kept in touch with George or Emily daily.

Three weeks after the surgery, George was finally able to sit up and even walk for short periods of time, so the doctor cleared him for travel. Global Travel Plus immediately arranged for a repatriation via business class flight with ground ambulance transportation on both ends of the trip.

After a long trip, the couple arrived in New Hampshire safe and sound.
