5 Tips for Smart Packing

Traveling can be exciting and with all you have to look forward to; you do not want to forget the essentials. Packing can be time-consuming and you may still forget some things back home. Instead of having to go through the stress of incomplete packing, follow our quick and easy five tips that will keep you organized on the go!

Have Your Itinerary Ready

Prior to packing for any trip, make a detailed itinerary about where you are going, what you will be doing each day, and what the weather of that destination will be. Knowing the activities that you will be doing in the day, can help you determine what clothes you need to pack. It will also help you coordinate your outfits so you do not end up over-packing or under-packing.
For instance, if you are going hiking on a mountain, you want to make sure you pack a pair of hiking boots or sneakers. Additionally, knowing the weather can also ensure you do not get stuck in the rain without an umbrella or in soaring high levels of heat without a hat, a pair of sunglasses, and most importantly, sunscreen.

Use Packing Cubes

Packing cubes help stay organized on-the-go as everything you take out of your bag has room to go back in its allocated space. Packing cubes also work to keep outfits and accessories connected and in the same place. You can keep your accessories in a plastic bag and put them in the same packing cube as the pair of clothes you will be wearing them with.
In case you do not have packing cubes handy; you can opt to roll your clothes. Rolling clothes can help save a lot of room in your bag and you can still wrap your accessories inside your clothes to keep your outfit ready for each day of your travels.

Use Tissue Paper to Avoid Wrinkles

Adding tissue paper in the middle of your clothes and at the fold lines prevents your clothes from moving around and wrinkling due to friction. Your clothes will look brand new and ironed when taking them on your trip by using tissue paper between layers of your clothes. You can also use this method when rolling or folding your clothes.

Keep Liquids in a Plastic Bag

While traveling, do not take all your skincare, bath, and hair products with you. Instead, pack your essentials and other liquids in small containers that can be stored in plastic Ziploc bags. This will avoid spills from ruining your travel bag and keep you organized while traveling.
Many airports also have a restriction on the size of liquids you can travel with to about 100 millimeters per item. They may even tell you to place your liquids, gels, creams, and pastes in a clear bag during screening. You will be better prepared if you follow this tip ahead of time and have your essentials ready to go.

Double-Check Everything

The last and final tip is double-checking. This tip might seem obvious but so many people forget to do it. Double-checking is more than just making sure you have everything, you also need to know the guidelines of what your airport may require, what the cultural background of the country you are visiting is, and all the other finer details.
Preparing an itinerary and a packing list may be useful so you can make changes as you find out more about your destination points. You can also write down all the items you may need to buy or any last minute additions you might have to add after packing. Packing is an art and should be treated as a process. Not everyone can cram packing for a trip in a one hour time period. You need to gradually work on it starting a week in advance to ensure you have everything you need for your trip.
